Our client, an industry leader in the Building Services sector, are hiring a MIG Welder to join their manufacturing team. This company specialise in offsite-prefabricated building service solutions for projects throughout the UK and Europe.

Working hours are Monday-Thursday from 07:00 to 17:00 and Friday from 07:00 to 16:00 for a total of 44 hours each week, with a salary range of £14-£16 per hour, equating to an annual salary of £32,032-£36,608 depending on experience.

As a MIG Welder, you will be responsible for welding a variety of pipe configurations while supporting a skilled team of Fabricators and Assembly personnel. This position offers a unique opportunity for candidates to enhance their welding, fabrication, and preparation skills while adhering to in-house welding and inspection procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • To operate MIG welding equipment 
  • To read/interpret drawings.
  • Use precision measurement instruments
  • Use of metal cutting and grinding equipment
  • Responsible for highlighting any faults or damage to the machine and its tooling
  • Clean tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Maintain a safe working environment 
  • To undertake training in line with company standards 
  • Always maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, whilst maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by Management.  

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in Fabrication and welding, particularly in general and pipe welding.
  • Experience with welding preparation and fit-up.
  • Proficient in MIG welding processes to high standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work to Welding procedures.
  • Competency in using measurement instruments such as fillet gauges.
  • Able to manage workload and meet project deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in heavy or structural fabrication.
  • Welding qualifications in MMA, MAG, or TIG.
  • Abrasive wheel training.
