Recruitment Agency Leeds Goes Green

The 30th September 2020 marked Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) Awareness Day and here at The Recruitment Crowd, we were eager to get involved in raising awareness.
NICU.ORG (https://www.nicuawareness.org/initiative-days.html) provided suggestions of things you could do in order to raise awareness. These included; doing random acts of kindness in honour of your NICU baby, share your story on social media using the hashtag #NICUAwarenessMonth and wear green in honour of your NICU baby.
With this in mind, we decided that pink and green should be seen and each member of the crowd came to work dressed in something green to honour all little ones that have experienced a NICU stay! NICU Awareness Day is something that is very close to our CEO’s heart so naturally, we wanted to get involved.
Neonatal Intensive Care Awareness (NICA) Month was devised to honour families who have experienced or who are going through a stay in the neonatal intensive care unit and all of the health professionals who care for them.
Did you know, each year over 100,000 babies are cared for in neonatal units throughout the UK because they have either been born prematurely or born poorly. This equals to around 1 in 7 new-born babies being admitted to a neonatal care unit each year in the UK.
The length of a babies stay in neonatal care in the UK varies dramatically and is entirely dependent upon the severity and condition of the baby. For some of the more premature and poorly babies, the duration of their stay can be for months.
As a leading Recruitment Agency in Leeds, we hoped that coming together and collectively wearing green, that we could raise some awareness for the special NICU babies as well as all of the neonatal nurses and staff.
