Mechanical Design Engineer

London (SW1V)

Salary up to £60,000 + Benefits

My client are a leading brand in household appliances and are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their successful team.

Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer.

  • Responsible for design and drafting of components and assemblies for manufacture of prototypes
  • Identification and sourcing of necessary components
  • Working with both metals and plastics, machined and 3D-printed parts
  • Liaising with key collaborating partners
  • Assembly of prototypes
  • Concept generation, presentation and documentation
  • Test and validation procedure writing and implementation
Profile for the Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Currently (or within the last year) working as a senior Mechanical Engineer or very closely related role
  • Significant relevant industry experience as a Mechanical Engineer
  • SolidWorks 3D CAD expertise (or Creo)
  • Competent with SolidWorks part design and drafting, geometric tolerancing, BoM generation, FEA and hand calcs
  • Experience of high-speed rotating assemblies (motors, compressors, turbo-machineries etc)
  • Sound knowledge of tolerancing
  • Able to deliver a design from concept/specification
  • BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Electric motor design
  • Thorough understanding of limits and fits
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Understanding of electrical work (for design of PCB outlines/cable routings)
  • Good drawing skills
  • Chartered engineer status
