The Company

My client is one of the market-leading companies of its kind within the UK and is also recently part of a Global PLC, although still runs independently with their own board of directors. The company are continuing to grow and continuing to acquire. The role we are recruiting for is a Business Development Manager on the Co-Manufacturing and Outsourcing side of the business selling into UK and Global Food Manufacturers. In line with the growth plans comes succession planning, therefore the path for progression is very real and carries numerous opportunities for candidates with the right aspirations and capabilities.

 

The Role

As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible for:

To drive new business sales, which are compatible with the company’s co-manufacturing and outsourcing model and manage the interface between internal and external functions to deliver new, profitable growth whilst optimising percentage margins.

To develop and grow the existing customer base by ensuring that the core strengths of Quality and Service are maintained and seek opportunities to add value.

To manage the relationships with existing customers ensuring that all individual requirements are met, including but not exclusively, OTIF and specific customer KPI’s, while fighting hard to retain that business.

 

The Candidate

  • Self-motivation with an ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • An ability to motivate others.

  • Ownership and responsibility for the role and accounts.

  • Initiative and an ability to identify potential alternative opportunities.

  • Experience of the Co-packing/Co-manufacturing/Outsourcing business models.

  • Understanding of packaging formats and specifications.

  • Understanding of the relationship between internal company functions and recognising where shortfalls need to be supported.

  • Understanding and the ability to satisfactorily interact with all customer functions including Sales, Marketing, Commercial/Finance, Quality/Technical, Engineering, NPD and Project Management.

  • Liaising and negotiating with customer contacts from non-management roles up to business owner levels.

  • Commercial awareness

  • Project Management including Gantt formulation, updating and expedition.

  • Customer Relationship Management

  • Candidates must live in the North West of England
